Purple Shampoo vs. Blue Shampoo

agfblondestudio

When hair is lightened, its underlying pigments are revealed.

This is why your hair is a yellow or orange color when your foils are pulled, before your hair is toned.

When I tone your hair, it neutralizes some or all of these yellow/orange tones.

However, toners fade pithing 6-8 weeks.

This is where purple and blue shampoos come in.

Blue shampoo neutralizes some orange tones.

Purple shampoo neutralizes some yellow tones.

I mix several toners to create a custom color for each of my clients based on the colors I'm trying to neutralize and add to achieve their desired result. I also use a bond builder in my toners to strengthen the hair over time.

So purple and blue shampoos don't take the place of in-salon toners. but they can help out between toning appointments.

Be sure to use your regular shampoo before, as these are for color correction rather than cleansing.

These shampoos are drying, so follow with a hair mask.

Don't start using until you see unwanted tones in your hair.

Only use once a week, as overuse can cause buildup and make your hair dull/darker.

If the purple shampoo isn't giving you your desired outcome, it's time to go to the salon for a toner.

Message me if you need a purple/blue shampoo or have any questions.
